Aeroflex IFR 3500
3500 Radio Communications Test Set
The Aeroflex 3500 combines many of the features of a benchtop radiotest set with the features of a Frequency DomainReflectomer (FDR)into a lightweight, rugged and portableplatform. The 3500 is perfectfor testing AM and FMradio transceivers, whether on a bench, installedin avehicle, or in some remote location.
NEW!Aeroflex's 3500 Hand-held Radio Test Set now has a new RF spectrumanalyzer option. This new option allows users to see thefrequency spectrum of the signal they are measuring.

New return loss and one port cable loss measurements enable comprehensive testing of antennas and cables
The 3500 Radio Test Set now allows the user to measure andgraphicallydisplay return loss and cable loss. Thereturn loss of an antenna orother device is displayed ingraphical form as return loss (in dB)versus frequency. The loss of a cable is similarly displayedgraphically asloss versus frequency. These two measurementsare inaddition to the VSWR and distance to fault (DTF)measurements that were already present on the 3500.With thesefour measurements, a complete analysis can be done on the cablingand antenna of a radio system.
New DCS generator and Audio Frequency Counter (AF Counter) expand the functionality of radio test in the 3500.
A DCS generator and AF Counter are the latest additions to the radiotesting capabilities of the 3500.The DCS generatorenables the testingof radios that require the DCS(Digital-Coded Squelch) to un-squelch theaudio. The newAudio Frequency counter measures the frequency of audiotones, whether from the audio in port, or the demodulated audio.
Drive-by testing isolates radio installation failures
Design for portable operation, the 3500 is ideal for performing radioinstallation testing.By utilizing over the air testingtechniques, aradio installed in a vehicle can betested, without making a directconnection.A handset isincluded to help make voice quality measurementsof thetransmitter and receiver.
Benchtop type tests allow the 3500 to go further than simple go/no go testing
With the 3500 as your test tool, you have the capability to go pastsimple go/no go testing. The transmitter and receivertest screens includemeters to measure transmitterparameters such as power, frequency and modulation.Thereceiver test screen includes meters to measure receiver sensitivity(SINAD) and audio distortion. The 3500 even includes twoaudio generatorsthat can be used either at baseband orto modulate the transmitter. All ofthese featurescombine to make the 3500 a complete radio test set for FM andAM radio transceivers.
